Under city ordinance the Runaway Bay Volunteer Fire Department is managed and administered through the assistance of the City of Runaway Bay. The Director of Public Safety is accountable to the city council. The fire chief reports to the Director of Public Safety. The Director of Public Safety is Police Chief Drew Paschall. The Fire Chief position is a volunteer position and is selected by the Director of Public Safety subject to approval by the City Services Coordinator and City Council. City ordinance mandates that all emergency fire equipment, buildings and other VFD property will be the property of the City of Runaway Bay. To ensure proper accounting methods and successful audits, the city secretary serves as Treasurer of the VFD.
